Death Note is a criminal thriller with a gothic and macabre undercurrent, from Ryuk's eerie Halloween costume to skull imagery and full moons in the sky. Mello's sophisticated black clothing and the surroundings of his hideouts occasionally reflect this motif. So, for this work, artist Nelo Black stepped up the eerie goth vibe, and Mello is front and center. Mello seems larger and tougher this time, and just in time: with that spooky mansion and rifle in hand, it's evident that he's an action star. He's about to get his hands filthy. Also, the headlight effect on that automobile is fantastic.
RikaMello, the artist behind the penultimate piece of Near fan art, returns for another entry, and this final piece of Near fan art is simply wonderful. This time, red, blue, and white dominate the color palette, which includes Near's hair and clothing, the creepy water, and all of those rose petals. Based on the half-eaten chocolate bar and how mature Near seems, this fan art is most likely set after Kira's defeat. When he wants to unwind in between instances, he heads to the bathtub, and what a sight that is.
Light is ecstatic because he has defeated his final few adversaries and ascended to the throne of the planet. His eyes are practically burning red with triumph, and an eerie fog is gathering around him, giving him a ghostly appearance. The backdrop is equally abstract, and there is some light beaming on his back, as though Light is turning away from humanity's last rays of light.
