Homura is always attempting to Set Right What Once Went Wrong in order to rescue her companions from Kyubey and Walpurgisnacht, but she has failed every time thus far. In the majority of these futures, they all perish in before of her eyes. In the third scenario, not only does Sayaka become a witch and die, but Mami fully breaks and murders Kyoko by blasting her Soul Gem off, unable to deal with the fact that they'll both become witches sooner or later... and Madoka has to shoot HER to keep her from killing Homura. Then, not only do she and Homura fail to halt Walpurgisnacht without horrifically damaging their Soul Gems, but she sacrifices the last of her power in a Heroic Sacrifice to drain the evil from Homura's Soul Gem and requests a Mercy Kill before becoming into a witch. Homura makes a sorrowful sound before shooting her closest friend to death.
Mimi: That's incredible. This episode is both bizarre and really entertaining. Sayaka and Madoka have radically different perspectives on fighting now, since Madoka has been the most troubled since Mami's death, and she flatly refuses Kyubey's contract. She even praises Homura for preventing her from becoming a magical girl, and Homura claims to have seen many more deaths similar to Mamis'. Sayaka, on the other hand, is pushed to her limits since Kyousuke's life is swiftly fading and there is no solution for his condition, so she ultimately gives her request. I have to admit, she looks amazing as a magical girl; even as a beginner, she already kicks some serious butt. I adore her cape.
Many of Kyubey's appearances after his first unveiling in Episode Three have a dark and menacing tone, as it's evident that something horrible is going on behind the scenes, but we don't know what until one unforgettable moment.
Kyubey, in its customary upbeat tone, explains that magical girls are so named because they will despair and turn into witches before they reach the age of maturity and have the opportunity to become women. That sentence confirmed that this was no ordinary magical girl show, and that the roots of misery extended much deeper than viewers could have imagined.
Then there's this episode's witch scene, which looked great while also being really scary. Of course, Madoka isn't a magical girl herself, but that's long been forgotten. With Sayaka now being a magical girl, I can only assume Kyubey would pervert her request into something heinous. I'm curious to see what this new female Kyouko will bring to the program (apart from the possibility of a lot more violence).
