Pegboards come in a variety of geometric shapes. We recommend purchasing a set of interlinkable, transparent square pegboards with 29-by-29 pegs (841 in total). If you intend to make large designs, consider purchasing a few classic superpegboards that can hold 3381 beads. Don't squander your money on smaller or irregular-shaped pegboards. They can be useful for some designs, but they are not as versatile as a standard square pegboard.
Okay, so melty beads are basically the same as perler beads; the only difference is the brand. And, as with many products, the lesser-known brand is usually of lower quality. It's a pattern book, not simply a collection of ideas, thus it teaches children how to follow a pattern. There are a lot of fantastic designs in this book. The only improvement would be to be able to take pages in and out so that more than one person could utilize the book at the same time.

Step 1: Create a simple perler bead box design. First, fill up the heart pegboard with red perler beads and press it with an iron; this is the base of the perler bead box pattern. The legs will be made and assembled in this stage. You will arrange the beads on the pegboard in the manner indicated in the photo, but you will use your own colors. After you've completed the pattern above TWICE, place the ironing sheet over the designs and iron it. Then turn it over and iron it on the other side using the ironing sheet. (You may need to repeat the ironing procedure a few times) Then put it together as indicated in the other picture. This method will be repeated on each body component, but with various patterns. (You will not have to duplicate the head or torso.) MAKE SURE YOU USE THE IRON WITH CARE!!!
