It is also beneficial to deal with S curves. Even if the hair is straight, a long open S may make it seem light and flowing. The S curves will be more noticeable with wavy hair! I use a different approach to get flawlessly curled hair. I start by drawing a spring and defining the front section. Then I make a replica of that line form.
As previously, I'll draw the crisp lineart and put a flat color underneath it.
For the time being, we'll keep the character in the background. As I previously said, you may proceed in whatever sequence you choose, coloring the character first or leaving it till last. After the backdrop sketch is complete and the figure has a clean lineart, I prefer to go on to coloring the background since it gives me a better sense of the lighting and colors that the character will have.
